- Three Professionals Recently Added to Staff
- 2/11/2008 - Terry Podoll, Ph.D. will
take over management and research responsibilities in the
Pharmaceutical laboratories. Terry has over 11 years of hands on analytical
chemistry, project management, and study director experience at three
industry-leading drug research companies. 2/25/2008 - Two chemists
have also accepted job offers and will be joining the KAR Bio team, starting
the week of 3/10.
- MDEQ Hazardous Waste Inspection
- 7/27/2007 - An unannounced hazardous waste inspection and
audit from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) took
place today. There were no findings, and the auditor said that it's a
pleasure to inspect a facility where everything is being done correctly. We
should receive an "in compliance" letter within the next few weeks.
Congratulations to KAR Laboratories, Inc. staff of Dave Alkema CHMM
(Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), Safety Officer Julie Rumsey, and
Chemist Mike Walsh for their diligence in weekly waste handling, inspecting,
and recordkeeping.
- Pharmaceuticals Laboratory Division Spin-off
- 7/1/2007 - The drug research laboratory section has been designated as
its' own company. Keeping the same location, all of the same
shareholders, directors, and officers, as a practical matter not much has
really changed. The spin-off will allow better management by tracking
each of the individual company's performance separately.
- Anniversary
Celebrations - 11-2-06
- Jayne Rauch, 10 years of service. 04-26-06 -
Mark Zwiefka, 15 years of service. 03/17/05 - Bill Rauch, 20 years of service. Anniversary celebrations include cake
and a gift certificate to a hotel or Bed & Breakfast of their choice, plus
an engraved
plaque (10 years), engraved desk clock (15 years), or engraved Swiss-made wristwatch
(20 years).
- Why are drugs so expensive?
- 06/28/05 -
Radio talk show host Paul Harvey recently commented about getting one new
drug to market in the U.S. On average, it takes 10 to 15 years, costs 900
million dollars (about what it cost to put a man on the moon), and has a 1 in
5000 chance of success, about the same odds as a golfer getting a
hole in one.

| Miron Communications Group, LLC
